What is SIBO and what test can you take at home?
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is a disease caused by colonization of bacteria from the colon into your small intestine. If this balance between the flora in the small and large intestine is disturbed, your health can be adversely affected.
It is therefore important to identify and treat possible symptoms early on. Possible symptoms of a sibo can be:
- constipation
- bloating
- Nausea
- stomach pain
- Vomit
- diarrhea
- Eructation
If you notice one or more of these symptoms, order ours SIBO test for at home. This easy-to-perform breath test enables us to carry out an accurate evaluation.
How does the Sibolab breath test work?
There are several treatment options to restore the balance of bacteria in the small intestine. But before appropriate treatment can be given by a doctor or naturopath, the SIBO must be diagnosed with the home test.
The breath test is a scientifically based method for determining Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). The test detects gases in the air we breathe, which are produced as a metabolic product by bacteria during energy production. These are hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4). The gases are formed in the intestines by bacteria and can be detected in the air we breathe a short time later. These gases can then be read using a special procedure and the result is displayed as a graphic curve.
